Orange is the new track...

....colour as five volunteers race to raise money for Looked After Children.

The five will don orange running vests to take part in The Great North Run on Sunday 13th September in an effort to raise £1,250 for the Sova Hull Independent Visitors Project.

Sova Support Officer Chelsee Blundell along with her friends Emma and Emily plan to cover the 13.1 miles from Newcastle to South Shields in less than 2 hours and 30 minutes and Sova Volunteer Steve and his friend Alex, who are members of a running club, are hoping for even faster
times.

In preparation, Chelsee has run a ten mile route that took her across the Humber Bridge. "It was the longest I've ever run in the whole of my life so I felt quite impressed with myself," she said. But added that for the sake of squeamish readers, she wouldn't go into too much detail about the team's strains and blisters!

The orange T-shirts were obtained specially for the event with the transfers carefully ironed on by Chelsee and Sova colleague Jen Markham.  Race funds are building already with Steve raising money through a barbecue, Alex selling items at a car boot sale and collecting money from
HMP Full Sutton, where she works, and Emma and Emily holding raffles at their work places, Price Waterhouse and Coopers and the NHS respectively, with prizes obtained by Jen.
