‘Promising’ Award for Herts Mentoring

Sova Hertfordshire Probation Mentoring Project has been awarded the 6 Point Promise award from Hertfordshire Volunteer Centre, Dacorum. The 6 Point Promise is a demonstration from a volunteer involving organisation that they value the contribution of their volunteers. This includes developing clearly defined roles, welcoming volunteers into the team, providing ongoing support, ensuring a safe and healthy environment and recognising and rewarding how volunteers provide added value to service provision. This is measured through an assessment process completed with support from the Volunteer Centre including a review of volunteering policies and procedures and obtaining feedback from the volunteers themselves.

 

Richard Pitts, Chief Executive of Volunteer Centre Dacorum said ‘Sova have demonstrated their commitment to providing an excellent experience for their volunteers which can be measured through the successful completion of the 6 Point promise’

 

The award is great recognition for our terrific work in Hertfordshire. Our project in Hertfordshire provides one to one and group mentoring support to offenders, referred to us from the Probation service. Sharon Ahmad, Sova’s Project Manager, said ‘We were thrilled to receive this award from the Dacorum Volunteer Centre on behalf of the voluntary sector in Hertfordshire.  It is wonderful to receive recognition for the hard work that Sova and the project staff have put into providing high quality recruitment, training and supervision for our volunteers.’ 

 

Whilst this is a Hertfordshire wide award, it is also great for Sova as a whole as the award assessed Sova’s Volunteer Management policy, and so is acknowledgement of the quality of that document and the work we do everywhere.
