Sova’s work highlighted by PPDG

Peer Mentors offer Sound Advice.

Sova Mentoring North East are supporting PPDG by providing Peer Mentors to offer assistance to clients on the NOMS contract, with the aim of helping progress them into employment or training opportunities after their release from prison.

A number of the Sova Peer Mentors are former PPDG clients who have come through the NOMS contract and they are now offering their support to those clients who are in the same position they were.

The Peer Mentors are based at PPDG’s Advancement Centres across the North East. They assist offenders on a wide variety of matters from claiming benefits to dependency intervention to job searching and they provide this service on a voluntary basis.

By working with PPDG, this also allows the Peer Mentors to develop their C.V and gives them real work experience with a challenging and diverse client group – a positive situation for all parties involved.

PPDG’s Graham Glasgow, said: “We’re delighted to work with Sova and the support they provide. Clients often express to the Peer Mentors how they can feel more relaxed discussing confidential matters with someone who has been in a similar scenario to themselves and can empathise with their situation. This help is vital in allowing us to help our clients break down any barriers they may have in finding employment."
