Sova Winchester District Employment Mentoring

Want to make a difference to the lives of people in the Winchester District? Want to help people gain confidence and realise their potential?

Sova Winchester District Employment Mentoring (WDEM) recruits, trains and supports Volunteer Mentors to work with unemployed people and boost their chances of getting a job. Working alongside local agencies, our project reaches out to people who have barriers to getting into work. It could be they are experiencing social isolation, a lack of confidence, have health problems, a criminal conviction or housing problems.

Our locally recruited Volunteer Mentors focus on the needs and aspirations of participants, helping them to overcome their barriers to employment by offering practical advice and emotional support.  Mentors can assist people to learn new skills and help them with practical tasks such as writing a CV or setting up a bank account. They also help people realise their potential by building self-confidence and being a source of motivation, reassurance and encouragement.

WDEM is committed to empowering volunteers and participants to develop their strengths and realise their potential.

By volunteering for Sova you could help someone get their first apprenticeship or give someone who feels they are without prospects the confidence to realise long held aspirations.

All our volunteers receive on-going training and supervision.

WDEM is funded by Winchester City Council.
