Volunteer Mentor - WDEM - Winchester

Do you want to help people develop their strengths and realise their potential? Could you help someone get their first apprenticeship or give them the confidence to start again?

We are  looking for enthusiastic Volunteer Mentors who can reach out to unemployed people in the Winchester District, offering them practical advice and emotional support to boost their chances of getting a job.

The project works with a broad client group, so as a volunteer you could be engaging with people who are socially isolated, lack of confidence, have health problems, a criminal conviction or housing problems. The tasks and roles mentors take on will vary for each person they mentor, as each person’s barriers to work and journey to overcome them will be different.

The work of our mentors can include:
  • Helping with CVs and job searches
  • Encouraging and providing practical support to help people engage with the services they need
  • Sourcing training and volunteering opportunities to boost job prospects
  • Relieving isolation, giving reassurance and inspiring confidence

No formal qualification or experience is necessary. Support, supervision and training provided.

Time commitment:  1-4 hours per week
