Volunteer Mentor - South Yorkshire Offender Mentoring - Sheffield

We are looking to recruit and train volunteer mentors to support adults within the community throughout South Yorkshire. (Sheffield, Rotherham, Barnsley and Doncaster)

Working on behalf of South Yorkshire CRC our volunteer mentors are matched with adult offenders identified as needing support. The mentoring is tailored to meet the individual needs of each person referred to the project. Mentors are non-judgemental and can assist by offering guidance and support to help offenders develop confidence and self-esteem and to identify their own goals to move towards social inclusion and mainstream provision. Mentors can also support with accessing local resources and information, education, training, and employment opportunities, as well as being a listening ear.

Volunteer mentors undertake accredited training through Certa (formerly OCN) and are fully supported and guided throughout their mentoring work. Training takes place one day per week over two weeks.

We are currently recruiting throughout South Yorkshire, if you live anywhere across this region, are over 18 years old and are interested in volunteering we would love to hear from you.

Time commitment:  1-4 hours per week
