Offender Mentor (Women specifically) - Hemel Hempstead

This is an exciting, challenging and fulfilling opportunity. No experience is necessary just an open minded, non-judgemental attitude and enthusiasm for the role.

You will be expected to:

  • Provide support so that your mentee can identify and achieve their personal goals
  • Actively listen to your mentee
  • Support mentees to make positive choices
  • Encourage them to build their confidence and motivation
  • To be sensitive to the barriers that our service users may face such as isolation, mental health issues and lack of supportive relationships
  • To believe in the principle that people can grow and move forward positively
  • To be committed AND reliable
  • To engage with Sova staff in regular supervision and to adhere to the policies and procedures that the role entails. 

Practical considerations

The service supports mentees in some of the following areas, therefore, any experience in these fields are welcome;

  • Literacy, numeracy and basic IT
  • Promoting healthy relationships
  • Health and wellbeing
  • Budgeting/life skills
  • Employment; writing CVs, job applications, interview techniques

Time commitment:  4-8 hours per week
