Independent Visitor - Barnet
Do you have a few hours per month to spare? We are looking to recruit committed volunteers across Barnet to provide an Independent Visitor support service to children and young people.
Barnet Independent Visitors provides volunteers to support children and young people, who primarily have none or minimal contact with family. It is a statutory role that has a focus on general befriending of young people. We work with young people between the ages of 5 and 17 years and therefore the Independent Visitor programme is a long term commitment. It involves meeting once a month, engaging the young person in a variety of activities in the local area, to help build their person’s confidence, self worth and sense of belonging.
We are looking to recruit people over the age of 18 who have a genuine interest in supporting children and young people. We need committed volunteers who can offer their time and long-term commitment to be a consistent, trustworthy person in a young person's life. No experience is required as full training and support is provided. All volunteers must complete Sova's CERTA accredited Core Skills training course before becoming a volunteer. References and DBS checks are required.
If you are interested in volunteering we would like to hear from you as our recruitment process is on-going.
Time commitment: 2-4 hours per month
Closing date: 31/10/2018
