Aim
-
North Yorkshire Circles of Support and Accountability aims to reduce the risk of future sexual abuse by working with offenders who are committed to not re-offending.
Groups of about four selected, trained and supervised volunteers work with a sex offender, known as the Core Member. They hold regular weekly meetings in order to help the Core member safely integrate back into the community. The aim is for the Core member to avoid re-offending and lead a responsible, productive and accountable life.
Partnership working is key to the success of Circles, and each circle is linked to others who work with the core member, including police, probation and prison services.
