Sova Hull MENTOR

Volunteers working in partnership with the Hull Youth Justice Service. Someone who will Motivate and Engage with young people; someone independent who will Negotiate on their behalf, giving up their Time to provide young people with support, Opportunities and a consistent Relationship.

Sova MENTOR recruit, train and support volunteers to work with young people aged 14 to 18 who have been identified by Hull Youth Justice Service (HYJS) as potentially benefitting from an adult role model. Volunteers support young people to make better life choices – steering them away from crime and helping them realise their potential.

The project offers advice, motivation and emotional support to encourage young people to make positive differences to their lives and gain some stability. Each mentoring relationship is structured, purposeful and time limited. A standard relationship involves volunteers meeting with a young person on a fortnightly basis for three months with the option of a further extension.
