Sova CRI Greenwich Mentoring

At Sova CRI Greenwich we support young adults between the ages of 17-25 who are in need of support, at risk of offending or misusing alcohol/drugs.

The partnership project is funded by CRI. Sova trained volunteers provide one-to-one mentoring support to young adults in conjunction with the CRI 17-25 Service in the Royal Borough of Greenwich. Our service users may be socially excluded, not in education, training or employment or struggling to cope. This may mean that they are more likely to suffer from poor mental health or use alcohol and/or drugs.

Our volunteers provide a diverse range of support including; emotional support, practical assistance with benefits and housing, helping to source education or employment opportunities and accompanying to other services or activities. Through helping service users build their confidence, re-engage with the community, develop their skills and promote their independence, they are supported and encouraged to work towards making better choices.

Support is delivered in weekly mentoring sessions usually ranging over a period of between 6 weeks and 6 months dependent on individual need. Our volunteers commit 2-4 hours a week for 12 months and undergo Sova core training and additional training in working with young adults, substance misuse and mental health awareness.
