CRI and Sova Confirm Merger

CRI and Sova have today announced confirmation of their merger which takes immediate effect.

Both CRI and Sova have many years of experience in successfully addressing some of the causes of crime, such as drug and alcohol addiction, and empowering service users to change their lives for the better. The two charities had commenced merger discussions in August.

"CRI and Sova share a vision of enabling those in need to help themselves and lead independent, crime free lives,” said CRI Chief Executive, David Royce.  “CRI will learn from Sova’s extensive volunteering experience and provide the financial support needed to ensure that Sova is able to sustain its foremost charitable object – volunteering.” He added: “This merger, which is funded from CRI’s reserves, demonstrates our commitment to enabling the self-help movement and to improving services.  Working together, as one organisation, we can deliver strong value for money to our commissioners and continue to provide the best possible help and support to service users and local communities.”

Welcoming the merger the outgoing Sova Chair, Randeep Kaur Kular said: “By joining forces Sova and CRI are creating a formidable partnership.  Both our organisations have the experience and expertise to provide the best possible help and support to the people we serve whilst offering value to our commissioners.  I know that working with CRI will open up many new opportunities and allow us to have a greater impact on creating stronger and safer communities.”

CRI and Sova are to retain their current brand and identities with Sova operating as a subsidiary of CRI.  CRI’s support will enable Sova to keep volunteers at the heart of service delivery and to ensure their expertise, skills, experience and passion for making a difference continue to change people’s lives for the better.
