additional information The SOVA Thames Valley Project requires an enthusiastic Support Officer to share in the recruitment, training and support of volunteers. In addition, the post holder will be responsible for a range of administrative duties in relation to the project.
The SOVA Thames Valley Project is a new scheme tailored to the areas of offending-related needs as identified in the 7 Pathways of the NOMS national reducing reoffending plan (Accommodation, Employment Training & Education, Health (mental & physical), Drugs & Alcohol, Children & Families, and Attitudes & Behaviour). The primary aim of the Project is to enhance offender rehabilitation, while reducing re-offending, through various methods of volunteer mentoring.
In order to achieve this, a primary element of the Project is to recruit, train and manage a team of volunteers who will facilitate a range of mentoring services to offenders across Thames Valley (Berkshire, Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire).
The post holder will work closely alongside staff and sectors of the Thames Valley Probation Trust.
Applicants should have some experience of working with volunteers and an understanding of the issues facing socially excluded groups, as well as some experience of working with adult offenders. In addition, comprehensive IT skills and time management skills are essential to this role. A training qualification or willingness to work towards an accreditation is also required.
