The SOVA One Service project requires an enthusiastic Support Officer to share in the recruitment, training and support of volunteers for the project. In addition, the post holder will be responsible for a range of administrative duties in relation to the project. The SOVA One Service project is a new initiative and a pilot programme. The purpose of the project is to provide volunteers to work alongside other agencies supporting male offenders upon release from Prison. The client will be engaging with St Giles Trust upon release and will work with them for a minimum of 2 months before being referred on to SOVA. The post will also involve co-ordinating volunteers within HMP Peterborough prison. The primary element of each project is to recruit, train and manage a team of volunteers to be available to work with offenders, to support them back into work/education and provide mentoring services. The post holder will work closely alongside partner agencies, including the One Service, St Giles Trust, and Ormiston. Applicants should have experience of working with volunteers and an understanding of the issues facing socially excluded groups, as well as some experience of working with adult offenders. In addition, comprehensive IT skills and time management skills are essential to this role. A training qualification or willingness to work towards an accreditation is also required.
