Visiting Mum - final report launched

“The impact on children of the imprisonment of their primary carer is ‘often nothing short of catastrophic’ - Baroness Corston 2007

Working in partnership with PACT, Sova have been supporting the delivery of the innovate Visiting Mum project since October 2014. Funded by the Big Lottery, the Visiting Mum project aimed to reduce re-offending and reduce the emotional distress caused to women incarcerated away from their children, whilst reducing the impact on the children themselves.  Sova provided volunteers to support the children of women in prison at HMP Eastwood Park, and their carers, to participate in regular visits and maintain relationships. Read the full evaluation of this remarkable project here.

Sova are currently seeking funding to ensure that this important work can continue and we hope that the report will be used to support our future applications.
